If you’ve ever walked into a thrift store with no plan and walked out carrying a vintage or antique item you didn’t know you needed, you understand what this business is built on. There is just something special about old things! There is the weight of them, the wear on them, and the quiet proof that somehow they escaped the landfill for decades. This is what ultimately led me to start Luke’s Antiques and Uniques.

How It Started

Like a lot of collectors, I didn’t set out to start a business. While I still remember the first items that I listed on my eBay store, I cannot even recall what initially sparked me to list my first items. However, once I realized there was a demand for antique and unique items, I knew that I wanted to grow my business into something bigger.

I quickly started picking through thrift shops, estate sales, and flea markets because it was fun. I moved on to sourcing from online auctions as it fit better with my schedule. When I am feeling adventurous, I will dig through the Goodwill Bins Outlet Store. My greatest finds have been in bins that the majority of people have moved on from. There’s a specific kind of satisfaction in spotting something worthwhile in a bin of forgotten odds and ends. I have found quack medicine tins, antique books, and pieces of advertising ephemera.

Over time, the hobby has grown into my small business. More people started asking where I found things. Strangers at markets wanted to know if I had more. At some point, it stopped being a pastime and started being a purpose. I eventually made Luke’s Antiques and Uniques official, and I haven’t looked back since.

What You’ll Find Here

I specialize in vintage tins, books, and collectibles. These items have required me to research and examine items much more closely than some other specialties require. A tin isn’t just packaging. It is graphic design from a lost era and a snapshot of how a brand wanted to be seen fifty or eighty years ago. A vintage book isn’t just a story. It is a binding style, an inscription on the flyleaf, and a dust jacket that survived against the odds.

Everything I sell is sourced with care and listed with honest, detailed descriptions to the best of my ability. I frequently learn from the knowledge of fellow eBay sellers and online experts. I believe buyers deserve to know exactly what they’re getting (the condition, the history, and the context). I aim for no surprises, no vague language, and no stock photos standing in for the real thing!

Where to Find Me

Luke’s Antiques and Uniques is currently an online shop. You can browse and buy through my eBay store to shop my collection. I ship carefully and promptly, because I know what it feels like to wait for something fragile to arrive in one piece.

During the spring and summer, I will occasionally set up at local flea markets and swap meets. This gives me the opportunity to clear inventory and meet new collectors. It is also a great opportunity to enjoy the great New England weather (except for the rainy days, of course!).

Why I Do This

The honest answer is that I like helping people find something that matters to them. Maybe it’s a tin that matches one their grandmother kept buttons in. Maybe it’s a book they read as a kid and haven’t seen in thirty years. Maybe it’s a collectible that fills a gap in a set they’ve been building piece by piece. Whatever the reason, that moment when the right item reaches the right person is the best part of this work!

What This Blog Will Be

Going forward, I’ll use this space to share what I know and what I’m still learning. Expect posts on how to identify certain vintage pieces, the history behind certain brands and manufacturers, tips for new collectors getting started, and behind-the-scenes looks at interesting finds before they hit the shop. I look forward to adding new posts soon!

Thanks for being here. I’m glad you decided to check out Luke’s Antiques and Uniques!
