Inspired by my love for a good movie franchise, I have decided to compile a list of my favorite history films that I have watched throughout the years as if they were all episodes of a sci-fi or superhero cinematic universe.
Are they perfect? No. Are they all historically accurate? Probably not. However, this list aims to provide a list of movies that, when watched together, provide more satisfaction than watching them independently. If you are a director, perhaps my list will provide you with some ideas for untapped periods in history to make a film about
- Glory (1998)
- Lincoln (2012)
- The Last Samurai (2003)
- 1917 (2019)
- All Quiet on the Western Front (2020)
